Victim No 1 - Sarah

I sent off £15.00 to a company called I.S TRADING based in north London. Because it had an address and not a p.o box i thought they were genuine. They kept my money and sent me a letter saying they would contact me. 1 year and no contact later i saw them on watch dog.

Victim No 1 - R Fifield

I answered an advert in a local paper and it said to help other people get  credit and I paid twenty pounds to join this and all I got sent was a form I could photocopy and advertise and I also was promised I would make a £100 for every lead I supplied and I sent in a few leads but after that on numerous occassions I contacted them to see if the people had got their loans only to be told that it takes time and then I found I had no response at all to numerous emails and messages I had left on the answer machine. I have kept all the correspondence from them and also I felt that itm was unfair cause I had worked hard at finding these leads for the company.

Richard Marks

Victim No 1 (nearly) - Kevin

I'm 100% sure that this is a con although I have never been in contact with this guy.

About a year ago I received a letter from a man called Richard Marks ( I think that is his name ) offering me the chance to win hundreds of pounds by predicting football scores. I'm not sure exactly what the letter said but it was something along those lines. To me, It was an obvious con and anything which promises to make me thousands of pounds with little or no work involved always goes straight into my bin.

A few weeks later I received another letter offering me the chance to win thousands betting on horses. I didn't notice it at first but after having a quick read later before chucking it in the bin I realised that it was the same guy ( Richard Marks )

Over the next 3 or 4 months I received about 6 letters from this guy offering a different money making scheme every time and since then I have noticed that he is advertising many different ways of getting rich quick by working from home. I have seen his advertisements in Focus magazine, The Sun, The Mirror, FHM magazine, Maxim and many others, And almost every time it is a different idea.

I've visited a few web sites who make homeworkers aware of scams yet this man is never on any of them. ( This may be that his offers are genuine, But if they are then I will eat my hat :o) )

I have no address for this guy but you may know of people who have been conned by this guy or you may wish to put his name on your site. If you do then I don't mind you using my name.

I must admit I haven't seen any of his adverts for a couple of months so it may be that he has already been found out, But I will have a look to see if I have any of his adverts in any old magazines I have.

I hope this info is useful to you and that it can maybe stop somebody being conned. As I said, I have no proof of this guy being a con artist, For all I know he could be totally genuine. But if ever you get to read one of his adverts then I'm sure you will agree that his get rich quick schemes are just one big con.

He also offers so many different ideas to get rich and advertises so much that if his offers were genuine then I'm sure we would all have heard about it by now.

Anyway, Congratulations again on such a good site and idea.

Best wishes to you all

Victim No 2 (nearly) - Paddy

I have had mailshots from Richard Marks - I have never parted with any of my hard earned cash though - if its sounds too good I beleieve it is too good - these people want to prey on our human frailities. I have a load of mailshots which I have kept as it would be interesting to set up some sort of web site highlighting these schemes and whether
they work. Time is my issue.

Our Reply: Paddy we think a website dedicated to reveling scammers would be a great idea.. If you go ahead we'll give you as much help as possible

They offered envelope stuffing work and promised to pay £150 per 1000 envelopes stuffed. They supplied the envelopes and the mailing lists and the leaflets, so all I had to do was put the leaflets in the envelopes and put the sticky address labels on the envelopes, and seal them and post the whole box back to them. They stuck on the stamps. They promised payment within 28 days-and I'm still waiting. That was back in March! They acknowledged receipt of the box. I sent them several letters chasing the payment, with no luck, and I've informed trading standards. But they can't do anything about it. They just advised me to threaten them with the small claims court and send the letter to them recorded delivery-but the letter got returned with 'addressee no longer at that address' So to-date, I still have not received any money from them.

At present, I'm having trouble with another envelope stuffing company. He seemed so genuine. With him, I had to buy the envelopes, mailing lists etc.. and then send in receipts to get re-imbursed. He promised payment within 2 weeks-that was 7 weeks ago. His answering machine just says 'I'm on holiday at the moment'-certainly a long holiday. I'm owed over £400 from him.

I hope this information helps other people out, so they don't get ripped off like I have.

I wrote off to a company requiring 'Data Compilers' in our local paper. I received a letter explaining that I had to fill out an application form and to show I was genuinely interested send them a registration fee of £10.00. The job entailed writing addresses on envelopes. I discussed it with my husband first and we decided that it had to be a scam, there should be no way a genuine request for work should cost money!! I live in Farnborough, Hampshire.

I decided against going any further with these people and from what I have read on your web site I am very glad.

I'm not surprised it is a Po box number decreases the risk of them being
caught and exposed!

Already sent a registration fee, they now want another £95, can't afford that.

Pro Craft
Handwriting labels - They send me a list of names from the telephone directory and some labels to write on. Did them as neat as possible and sent them back, have heard nothing and it's been at least 3 months.  Wrote asking them to send the labels back to me. No reply. Oh and that was a £25 registration fee.
